Organic

So the big thing these days is buying Organic. As much as I wish I could afford to buy ALL organic... and why is it more expensive?... I am usually prone to buying the regular (and cheaper) stuff. This week, however, I had a chance to try out the Organic way of life...(it was on sale!).

My first try: Full Circle Organic Apple and Cinnamon Oatmeal. I will never eat anything else. This oatmeal was absolutely delicious. Compare it to yours: Per serving.... 150 cal, 1.5g fat, 30g carb, 13g sugar, 4g protein. The flavor is fantastic, and yes, there are little chunks of apple in every bite! A definite thumbs up from me!~

My second try: Full Circle Organic Popcorn. Could use a little more butter...but I say that about all popcorn! LOL. This is actually very tasty. It has a little more flavor to it.. and the texture is a little bit different... but all around, very good!

Will I buy these things from now on? well.. the oatmeal is a definite yes (if I can afford it).. the popcorn, only when its on sale!

So, today is going to be another scorcher. 100*F/38*C .... and on top of that the monsoons have been trying to come all week, so the weather is humid too. I'm not sure what to do today... maybe a bike ride.. or a walk to the park...something!

Organic is better for you because you are not getting pesticides and especially with fruit I really notice a difference, but it is pricey. I wish I could afford to buy all organic produce, milk, meats. Have you ever tried beef were the cows are fed grass with no hormones or antibotics and are free range? It is the best beef ever but we only buy it once in a super great while, it is about twice if not more the price of regular beef. I also will no longer buy non-organic strawberries - the organic ones are too yummy!

Organic is good but make sure what you are buying has all the proper US organic certification on it. If not, it's not true organic.

My calves.......ha ha. They are inherited! My Great Aunt, Grandma, Dad and brother all have the same legs.

I always wanted little stick legs. Till I realized mine were powerful. Now I love them.
That picture actually does not do them justice. (de are HUGE!!)

Have a great day!

I like your quote. I will have to tape it somewhere in my mind.

Re. organic: Once I tried organic carrots, I decided they were worth the extra cost. Until recently, price has been a big consideration as to whether I buy organic or not. Since my hubby's leukemia diagnosis, I try to buy mostly organic. He found a chart on the web that shows the relative absorption of chemicals of different food items. I may post the link to it, if I remember, in my next post. I don't have it handy right now.

Hi TL, thanks for stopping by my blog and letting me know you still care! I always appreciate knowing you're out there going through the same things... I'm back now and on track. I actually feel focused which is amazing.

I agree with you about organic food. I would love to buy everything organic, but I/we just can't afford to buy it. I try to buy when I can. I only buy organic/all natural peanut butter (same calories as other PB, but the one and only ingredient is peanuts). I will never go back , the regular PB just tastes like icing sugar to me. Hopefully as organic foods become more and more mainstream they will become more affordable. But until that happens, it's great that you're experimenting. Now you've found a new fave!

Take care,
PSG

Hey! Thanks for sharing this. I will check out the oatmeal. Its always a change for me from my bran flakes. I think that they price it higher because they know we will pay for it. :)

Super hot here with us too. About 35C, here they factor in the humidex too, my makeup just melted off yesterday, so I am going oh' natural today. No point. Stay cool and take care of yourself.

I love your quote as well!
